What is it for?
Full modular training is a structured but more flexible alternative to the integrated route towards the ATPL (Airline Transport Pilot Licence). It follows the modular regulations, which means you start flying straight away with the Private Pilot Licence (PPL). The model offers more freedom, more financial security, and a step-by-step path towards a career as an airline pilot.
What is full modular training?
Unlike the integrated ATPL, where everything is bundled into one intensive programme, modular training lets you progress in distinct stages. The goal is the same, every qualification you need to become a professional pilot, but you get there while:
- starting to fly from day one;
- moving at your own pace;
- spreading the cost.
Hands-on from the very start
One of the main advantages of modular training is that you start flying immediately, with the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) module. That makes the learning tangible from the outset, especially if you have no previous experience, and it is a motivating way into aviation.
The Private Pilot Licence (PPL): the starting point
Goal: Learn to fly a light aircraft safely, and earn a licence that lets you fly privately.
Duration: Around 40 to 60 flight hours, depending on how you progress.

The benefit: Within the first few weeks you are flying with an instructor and preparing for your first solo. That hands-on approach keeps motivation high right through the course.
Open to everyone
- Less academic pressure at the start: unlike the integrated ATPL, you do not begin with 14 demanding theory subjects. You learn gradually, combining theory and flying.
- An easier way in: if you have no previous aviation experience, starting with the PPL feels more natural and far less daunting.

Build at least 150 flight hours to move on.
